Our Commitment to Privacy

RUNSTR is built on a simple principle: your fitness data belongs to you. We don't collect, store, or sell your personal information. Period.

What Data Stays on Your Device

  • All workout data (routes, times, distances)
  • Your fitness history and statistics
  • App preferences and settings
  • Any profile information you create

This data is stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to publish a workout. When you do, RUNSTR publishes that workout as a public note on the Nostr network, which is what lets it appear in other clients. You decide which workouts to publish and what they include.

What We Don't Collect

  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Real names
  • Location data (except temporarily during active workouts, stored only on device)
  • Device identifiers for tracking
  • Usage analytics that identify you

Your Nostr Identity

You sign in with Nostr. No email or phone number is required. Your identity is a key pair that you control, stored on your device, not a set of personal details tied to your real name. Anything you publish is signed by that key and is public by design, the same way it would be in any other Nostr client.

Publishing and Rewards

When you publish a workout, it goes out as a public note on Nostr and can be read by any client, leaderboard, or tool that speaks the same format. Rewards are paid over the Lightning network to the destination you choose, such as your own wallet or a cause. Only the data you explicitly publish becomes visible, and you control what you share.

Third-Party Integrations

If you connect RUNSTR to third-party services (like Apple Health or fitness devices), data sharing with those services is governed by their respective privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their policies before connecting.

Open Source Transparency

RUNSTR is open source. You can review our code to verify our privacy claims. We believe transparency is the foundation of trust.

Your Rights

  • You own all your data
  • You can export your data at any time
  • You can delete all app data by uninstalling the app
  • You can use the app without creating any account
